The financing and reimbursement of healthcare services has become an increasingly significant topic worldwide, as health systems work to expand access, strengthen sustainability and respond to growing regulatory requirements.
Against this backdrop, the IBA Healthcare & Life Sciences Law Committee released a comparative guide examining how different countries structure their financing and reimbursement frameworks. In this edition, our partner Cristina Lewis, together with associates Raysa De Gracia, Jose Manuel Motta and Santiago de la Guardia, contribute the Panama chapter to the report “Healthcare financing and reimbursement: A global review of major topics and trends.
They examine the core elements of Panama’s healthcare system, from its institutional and regulatory structure to the mechanisms that shape coverage and reimbursement. They also discuss recent developments that are influencing financing dynamics, the interaction between insurers and providers, and the organization of healthcare services in the country.
