Five years after Panama’s Personal Data Protection Law came into effect, awareness of data protection rights has grown significantly among individuals and businesses.

In this excerpt from her interview on Eco TV’s Radiografía, our associate Raysa De Gracia, participating in her capacity as a member of IPANDETEC, discusses how individuals are increasingly aware that their personal data cannot be collected or used without a legitimate basis, including informed consent or an applicable contractual relationship.

This greater awareness is also reflected in the increase in complaints and claims, while continued education remains essential to strengthening the effective exercise of data protection rights in Panama.
