The National Immigration Service extends deadlines in view of the COVID-19

In order to continue mitigating the risk of possible COVID-19 infections and in response to the instructions given by the Ministry of Health, the National Immigration Service has issued Resolution No. 7,051 of April 29, 2020, decreeing, among other things, the following:
 
1. To extend until May 15, 2020, the validity of residence permits of foreigners that expired as of March 13, 2020. This extension includes provisional identification cards (pending), provisional residence permits, non-resident visas, legal stay cards (“carnés de estadía judicial”), and permits issued for humanitarian reasons or, the tourist permit which deadline finishes during this period without a penalty fee.
2. To order the suspension of all terms in proceedings and actions carried out by the National Immigration Service and its regional headquarters throughout the national territory, until May 15, 2020.
3. To order the suspension of operations at the main office of the National Immigration Service and at all regional offices throughout the national territory, until May 15, 2020.
 
This period may be extended in accordance with the provisions of the health authorities and the evolution of the State of Health Emergency.
